Abstract

This paper is theoretical and, it examined the role of an administrator managing conflict in a school environment. Identifying the inevitability of conflict in school setting, it was within the purview of this paper to unearth the various types of conflicts the causes and the methods of handling them. This paper sound the theory of differential association as a theoretical base in order to explain the relationship between at administrator’s knowledge of the personalities of individual worker and his ability to manage conflicts. This paper identified and explained management strategies that can be adopted in reducing conflict in school organization. It is recommended that the school managers/administrators should know that conflict in a work place is inevitable and always should try to identify factors responsible for conflict situation among their staff and even among the students.
