Abstract

The world's population depends heavily on the agricultural sector for its sustenance. However, its supply chain's efficiency, security, and transparency are becoming more and more of a problem, lack of price transparency contribute to hike in commodity price by different factors. This research uses Ethereum Blockchain technology to implement a well traceability system in order to address these concerns. The study makes use of the Remix Integrated Development Environment (IDE) and Solidity smart contracts to build an unchangeable and transparent ledger of the completely agricultural supply chain. Smart contracts represent various actors, like seed vendors, distributors, farmers, retailers, and consumers, facilitating safe and transparent data recording. The research has many advantages, including improved transaction flow and the development of integrity and trust along the completely agricultural supply chain. While supply chain participants gain from increased efficiency, security, and safety of the agricultural produce eliminating third party, consumers gain the ability to verify the authenticity and origin of agricultural products. Nevertheless, there are obstacles like using a virtual machine rather than deploying the contract on an actual Blockchain due to financial concerns.
