Dilapidating State of Education in Nigeria and the Role of Computer Technology
Abstract
This research emphasizes the deteriorating condition of education in Nigeria, characterized by low enrollment rates, subpar quality, and insufficient funding. It further elaborates on the funding issue, identifying it as the fundamental cause of all other educational challenges in Nigeria. The study, which concentrated on the quality of teaching and learning, also examined how computer technology can enhance educational quality and assist in effectively managing the limited funds available to promote accountability and ensure quality. The proposed system consists of a network application that enables stakeholders in the education sector, from top officials to students, to oversee all activities within the network regarding fund allocation, training, teaching, assessment, and grading. This approach fosters accountability, ensuring that available funds are utilized appropriately and adequately to maintain quality. The research adopts blockchain technology for the development of the computer network, as it promotes accountability by guaranteeing that data remains transparent and unchangeable.
