Biological Proverbs as Tools for Bioinspired Design and Artificial Intelligence: A Transdisciplinary Framework

Abstract

This article examines how animal and plant proverbs can be used as tools for artificial intelligence (AI) and bioinspired design (BSD) to address problems facing society like climate change and poverty. BSD and AI strengths and opportunities can be leverage to radically transform societies and industries. Proverbs knowledge and expertise are rarely used in modern advanced technologies, though as sublanguage, they are applicable in some degree to all areas where language is applied. AI and BSD innovation revolutions are changing the world and those who don’t embrace their research, development, innovation and adoption will be left behind and possibly never catch-up. Tools like proverbs are required for everyone to participate and collaborate in catching up. The study used transdisciplinary literature review, analogy design science research and purposive sampling methods. There is need to experiment with proverb creativity and to explore ways of creating systems of proverbs.
