Abstract

The paper highlighted on the concept of Intellectual Development as it is one of the idealist aims of education which focus on all things that are of more lasting value-eternal and directed towards the search for true ideas. As ascertained by Plato that ‘truth’ or ‘perfect ideas’ can be found only in ‘philosophic wisdom’ which can only be attained through intellectual development. Piaget’s theory of Intellectual Development’ was also discussed in the paper, as he believed that everyone must pass through an invariant sequence of four qualitatively distinct stages. Lastly discussed the greatest undoing of Idealism like Industrialisation, Globalisation and Technological Advancement, in which the development of science has brought technology to what is now called Artificial Intelligence (AI) and this in turn has helped man put more emphasis on the material wellbeing as opposed by the idealist aspect of life.
