A Blueprint for Achieving Technological Literacy in Nigeria’s Transport and Logistics Sector
Abstract
This study aims to develop a blueprint for achieving technological literacy among transport and logistics firms in Nigeria, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 (Quality Education), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by 2030. A critical review of 73 peer-reviewed empirical studies on technological literacy was conducted, and evidence from the review, combined with the authors’ contextual knowledge of Nigeria, informed the blueprint’s design. The findings identified and outlined eight practical and interconnected steps, collectively referred to as the Technology Literacy for All Nigerians (TELFAN) Blueprint, intended to guide the advancement of technological literacy within the transport and logistics sector. The TELFAN Blueprint serves as a comprehensive, step-by-step framework that can be adopted by the Nigerian government to promote nationwide technological competence, particularly within this key industry. Notably, it represents one of the first structured guides to achieving technological literacy from a developing country perspective.
