Analysis of Lineaments Pattern over Azare and Its Adjoining Area using Aeromagnetic Data

Abstract

Aeromagnetic data over Azare and its adjoining areas were obtained and analysed for assessing the mineral potential of the area. The data were analyzed using polar plot technique which showed the presence of subsurface lineaments trending predominantly along NE-SW, WNW-ESE and NNE-SSW direction with minor trends along NW-SE and N-S directions. Comparison between these lineaments and the surface lineaments suggested that the majority of surface lineaments were structurally controlled. The research conducted evaluates the economic minerals potential of the study area which is highly encouraged as the economy of the country need to be diversified.
