Abstract

Standard of living is the amount of goods and services produced and available to purchase by a person, family, group, or nation. This paper aims to examine the impact of the N-Power programme initiated by the Buhari administration under the National Investment Programme (NSIP). The data for this was gathered through the instrument of questionnaire and review of past literature. The descriptive survey research design was adopted in the study. Taro Yamane formula was adopted to determine the 224 sample size of the study. Simple percentages, tables were used to present the result while chi-square was used to test the hypothesis. The study was based on the postulations of the Empowerment theory. The paper revealed that the scheme has helped in the improvement of the standard of living of the beneficiaries in Bida LGA. The study recommends among others the availability of soft loans and grants for the beneficiaries while exiting the scheme.
